James Fletcher’s career spans over 40 years in the construction industry, during which he has had the opportunity to play in nearly every facet of the field. From ironworking to owning a concrete plant, his experience runs deep, especially in working with materials like rebar. This hands-on expertise provided him with a unique perspective on the limitations of traditional steel rebar, and it was from this foundation that his vision for the future of construction began to take shape.

Having spent years on the ground with rebar and other construction materials, James understood the challenges and inefficiencies of steel rebar, particularly in terms of weight, corrosion, and long-term durability. As he looked to innovate, he saw the potential of FRP (Fiber Reinforced Polymer) rebar as a solution to these challenges. His deep knowledge of construction, combined with his experience as an 8A certified contractor, gave him the insight and drive to push this vision forward.

It was in this search for new, more efficient materials that James crossed paths with Sanjay Patel - who just happened to be a degreed Polymer Engineer and had a short stint many years ago in epoxy construction materials for roadways, bridges, and parking decks. While their careers had taken very different paths—Sanjay’s in technology startups and engineering—they found common ground in the desire to revolutionize the construction industry. With Sanjay’s experience in business and engineering, they were able to combine their skills to create a company focused on advancing FRP rebar as a material that could redefine the future of construction.

As they brainstormed and built their business, they came to a fun realization: they were like pirates, navigating uncharted waters in a world of traditional construction methods. Together, they were taking bold risks and exploring innovative territories.
